Christ came to bring repentance. As the result of repentance, He gives forgiveness and remission of sin. The blood of Jesus Christ is what saves us. It doesn’t matter that we belong to a church because it is the blood of Jesus Christ that brings forgiveness, not church membership.

It is clear in the Bible that God's ongoing and ever-increasing reign is fundamentally important. Scripture teaches that God's reign is "already" and "not yet," which creates a tension that is difficult for us to balance and comprehend. However, there is a real need to sing about God's present reign, and "Build Your Kingdom Here" is perhaps the best song I can think of addressing that need for the modern church.

You see, Jesus gave the church the mission of expanding his reign on earth until he returns. Christ hasn't returned yet, so the mission is still ongoing. We are to keep asking him to build his kingdom here, and we are to keep reminding each other that we are the hope for the earth because of Christ in us. Jesus is the hope of the world and he has put his hope in us because we as the church are not just an organization or a club but we are the living, breathing body of Christ on earth. We are his hands and his feet and so that makes us the hope of the world. That makes our decisions and what we do with out lives actually matter. It's not just about a nine-to-five job or ticking the boxes of the things we need to get done. You see, we have the opportunity to build the kingdom of Heaven on earth HERE and NOW.

And that makes us the hope of honour. The way that we live our lives, the decisions that we make, the people that we interact with.... that's how we can build this kingdom together. This is about winning our friends, our families, our neighbours, our communities and even our nations back to God through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. It's our prayer that we would build the kingdom here and that the darkness will truly fear.

Dear Lord Heavenly Father,

I ask that we would be drenched in your Son’s blood. I ask that when you see us, that you call us clean because Jesus’ blood makes us spotless in your eyes. Help us to believe that us being covered by your Son’s blood means that we are worth being known and loved by You and other people. Most importantly however, I pray that you will help us acknowledge that you are the hope of the world for you have put your hope in us because we as a church are not just an organization or a club but we are the in fact the living, breathing body of Christ. I pray that you will build your kingdom here on earth O Lord Father.
